On December 12, 1901 Gugi fired up the enormous
spark gap
generator on the ocean shore at Wellfleet - Cape Cod. It was late
at night - a cold nasty winter storm was screaming outside.
With headphones fastened tight, Mr. Marconi tapped the telegraph
key as the sparks flew ... far across the Atlantic, in a little
shack on the edge of England, his tapping was heard. An
answer was sent. It was the birth of transatlantic radio.
